Our Beginning
1963 was a year of great triumphs and tragedies. The world saw the assassination of JFK, the establishment of the Warren Commission and heard the “I Have a Dream speech for the first time. A gallon of gas cost $.29 and average household income was just over $5,000. In that year Studebaker went out of business and quietly a small business took it place. Yes, Parbuster was born in the basement of John Makar’s home on 26th Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Now nearly 50 years later, we bring you the story-or should we say-continuation of this dream to the Internet. Over the 50 years we have sold golf nets to great people all over the world including Alice Cooper, Eddie Van Halan, Jack Nicklaus and Jerry Lewis. This year it was a soldier in Iraq as well as to schools, Universities, golf shops, simulator companies and guys building “man caves.” Most have a story behind them that make me smile, as I talk to them. Golfers are the most interesting and passionate people about their sport and our goal at Parbuster is to make the journey a little more enjoyable.
So with the thought that our customers might like to meet each other- sharing golf tales and “man cave ideas” we decided to try a blog. I consider myself a dinosaur-but we do have an employee under 23-so what the heck. Life it short…let’s do a blog.
